Second win in succession a first for any agency

Western Australian agency, Bicton Travel, headlined a stellar night at the International Cruise Council Australasia’s 2011 awards, winning Australian Cruise Agency of the Year for the second year in succession, the first time this has been done by an Australina travel agency.

The awards were presented to the industry’s top travel consultants and agencies at the gala event. The presentation marked 12 years since the first ICCA awards were introduced to recognise the enormous contribution of the trade to the local cruise market’s growth.

More than 400 cruise industry members attended the awards dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney, which was hosted by television presenter  Lisa Wilkinson.

Australian category award winners included:

• Silver Cruise Agency of the Year – Phil Hoffmann Travel, Glenelg SA
• Bronze Cruise Agency of the Year – Clean Cruising, Brisbane QLD and Cruise Express, Balmain NSW
• Frank Johnson Cruise Consultant of the Year – Phil Smethurst, Bicton Travel, Bicton WA
• Consumer Promotion of the Year – Cruise Express, Balmain NSW
• Rising Star Award – Cory Edmondson, ecruising.travel.
